Colour Confidence: An Immersive Mixed Media Art Retreat with Georgina Forbes of Lordy Dordie
Hosted by Uptrek
If you've ever dreamed of escaping to the Scottish countryside with a paintbrush in hand, this is your invitation!
Join me for eight inspiring days in the beautiful Scottish countryside, where we'll explore colour, creativity and mixed media together. Nestled amongst rolling green hills near the charming village of Buchlyvie, this retreat is designed to help you slow down, reconnect with your creativity and discover the joy of making art without pressure.
Throughout the week I'll guide you through colourful workshops filled with expressive mark-making, layering, mixed media and plenty of playful techniques. Rather than everyone creating the same artwork, I'll encourage you to discover your own style, trust your instincts and enjoy the process. My hope is that you'll head home not only with beautiful artworks, but with greater confidence, fresh inspiration and the excitement to keep creating long after the retreat finishes.
Whether you're completely new to mixed media or you've been painting for years, my goal is simple: to help you build confidence, loosen up your creative process, and develop work that feels authentic to you.
Of course, some of our inspiration will come from exploring the beautiful Scottish countryside itself.
We'll head out together to sketch amongst the breathtaking scenery of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, spend a day discovering the incredible history and architecture of Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, and enjoy time wandering through the charming village of Buchlyvie, gathering inspiration and reference material to bring back into our artwork.
These outings are such a special part of the retreat. Taking time to slow down, observe and immerse ourselves in our surroundings often sparks fresh ideas and helps us see colour, texture and composition in new and exciting ways.

Our home throughout the Rachel's Farm retreat is a peaceful countryside estate surrounded by beautiful gardens and rolling farmland. You'll have access to a spacious, fully equipped art studio, comfortable accommodation, outdoor hot tubs overlooking the landscape, and plenty of quiet spaces to relax between painting sessions.
One of my favourite parts of every retreat is the time we spend together — sharing meals, chatting over a cup of tea or a glass of wine and getting to know one another in such a special setting.
Throughout the week, you'll enjoy chef-prepared meals, fresh local ingredients, daily wine with dinner, a Scottish gin tasting, and a memorable farewell evening around the campfire with traditional Ceilidh music and dancing beneath the stars.
It's the perfect way to celebrate a wonderful week of creativity together.
I've designed this retreat to welcome creatives of all experience levels. Whether you're completely new to mixed media or you've been painting for years, you'll be supported and encouraged every step of the way.
Please note that our excursions involve walking on uneven paths, cobbled streets and stairs. Some accommodation at the estate is also accessed via stairs, so this retreat may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
As with any retreat, our schedule may change slightly depending on the weather or the needs of the group.
If you've been longing to reconnect with your creativity, build your confidence with colour and experience the magic of Scotland, I'd absolutely love for you to join me. I can't wait to welcome you, paint alongside you and share this unforgettable creative adventure together.
