Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of remote Tasmania, you'll find endless inspiration in the tranquil environment. Throughout the week, we’ll primarily work in the studio while also enjoying arty adventures to stunning local locations like the Bay of Fires and Mirror Lake. Bring your sketchbook for a ‘side of journaling’ as you work on florals, portraits, or landscapes.

Led by the colourful duo Georgie Forbes and Rachael King, this art retreat invites participants to explore a diverse range of subjects and painting techniques.

Whether you're an experienced artist or someone who’s just beginning to explore their creative side, this retreat is designed to help you discover and refine your unique, colorful style. With ample time to paint, draw, and express your artistic vision, you'll be guided through an inspiring journey, sharing your progress with fellow creatives in a supportive and vibrant atmosphere.

Each day, you'll be free to explore new techniques and mediums, drawing inspiration from the serene, picturesque surroundings that only Tasmania can offer. And as the sun sets, the hotel’s cozy ambiance invites you to unwind, reflect, and connect with your fellow artists over stories and shared experiences.

Whether you’re an accomplished painter or just starting out, this workshop offers a supportive environment to develop your skills. Join us for daily excursions to carefully selected locations that will inspire you with the natural beauty of Tasmania. Come and enjoy a week filled with inspiration, creativity, and camaraderie. You’ll enjoy non-sharing rooms at no extra charge, a spacious, light-filled art studio, and a comfortable group lounge complete with Chesterfields and a fireplace.

What is included?

  • Accommodation: Enjoy six nights of comfort at The Enclave, where every room offers either an ensuite or a private detached bathroom just across the hall.
  • Meals & Refreshments: Delight in daily breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, with the exception of one dinner and one lunch out. Tea, coffee, and snacks are also provided throughout your stay.
  • Welcome Dinner & Drinks: Begin your retreat with a stunning two-course welcome dinner, accompanied by drinks by the fire, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
  • Transportation: We’ve got you covered with transfers to and from Launceston airport, as well as transport to various painting and sightseeing excursions, allowing you to explore Tasmania’s epic landscapes with ease.
  • Art Instruction: Receive personalised painting tuition and guidance from Georgina Forbes & Rachael King in an intimate small-group setting. Over the five days, you'll paint in The Enclave's studio, on location at stunning sites, and in the hotel’s beautiful garden—a harmonious mix of studio and plein air experiences.

What's not included?

  • Airfares to and from Tasmania (please fly or drive into Launceston)
  • Travel insurance – we highly recommend obtaining travel insurance to cover cancellation, medical and hospital expenses, and other unforeseen costs.
  • One dinner and one lunch out (venue TBA)
  • Art materials - you will need to bring all your own art supplies
  • Alcoholic drinks - Please note that alcohol is NOT included in the retreat cost, however it is available for purchase on site.

As a teacher myself, I understand the time and care that goes into this crucial part of any teaching and learning. Clear and explicit instruction with demonstration and modelling was appreciated.
