The Colourful Path to Creativity: Why I’m Hosting an Art Retreat in France

The Colourful Path to Creativity: Why I’m Hosting an Art Retreat in France

The Colourful Path to Creativity: A Joyful Art Retreat in France for Colour-Loving Creatives

For years, I dreamed of creating an experience that felt bigger than just an art workshop.

I wanted something immersive. Something joyful. Something that blended creativity, travel, connection, inspiration, and those little magical moments that stay with you forever.

And now it’s happening. From 16–25 September 2026, I’ll be hosting The Colourful Path to Creativity at beautiful Périgord Retreats in the stunning French countryside, and honestly, I cannot wait to share this creative experience with you.

This art retreat in France has been designed for creatives who are craving colour, inspiration, artistic growth, connection, and time to truly slow down and reconnect with themselves.

Why I’m Hosting an Art Retreat in France

There’s something about France that slows you down in the best possible way.

Maybe it’s the golden morning light stretching across rolling hills. Maybe it’s the bustling markets overflowing with flowers, cheese, pastries, and fresh bread. Maybe it’s the way people linger over meals, wine, and conversation instead of rushing through life.

The Midi-Pyrénées region in southern France feels like stepping into a painting and is the perfect setting for a creative retreat filled with beauty, inspiration, and slow living.

Medieval villages sit on hilltops, lavender sways in the breeze, and every corner seems to hold a new colour palette waiting to be captured in a sketchbook.

When I discovered Périgord Retreats, I instantly knew it was the perfect place to host a painting retreat in France centred around creativity, joy, and meaningful connection.

This isn’t just a holiday. It’s a chance to fully immerse yourself in art, travel, beauty, and inspiration.

More Than a Painting Retreat in France

Yes, we’ll paint.

We’ll fill sketchbooks with colour studies, explore mixed media techniques, experiment with playful mark-making, and create expressive paintings inspired by the French countryside.

We’ll work both in the studio and outdoors, capturing flowers, architecture, markets, landscapes, and fleeting moments of French life through paint, colour, and creative exploration.

But this retreat is also about something deeper. It’s about reconnecting with your creativity without pressure. It’s about remembering how to play again. It’s about giving yourself permission to slow down enough to truly notice beauty.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already confident in your artistic style, you are welcome here. Creativity isn’t reserved for a select few. I truly believe it belongs to everyone.

This retreat is designed for creatives, artists, hobby painters, and colour-loving travellers who are craving inspiration, connection, and time to reconnect with their creativity.

My goal is to help you loosen up, trust yourself, and rediscover the joy of creating simply because it feels good.

What Makes This Creative Retreat in France So Special?

1. Everything Is Taken Care Of

One of the most beautiful things about attending an art retreat in France is the ease of it all.Once you arrive, you can exhale. No worrying about transport. No endless planning. No figuring out where to eat or what to do each day. Every detail has been thoughtfully organised so you can fully sink into the experience.

All you need to do is show up, create, explore, and enjoy. And honestly? That kind of ease is such a gift.

2. The Food, Wine & Shared Meals

I already know the meals are going to become some of my favourite memories from this France art retreat.

There’s something deeply special about gathering around a table after a creative day. Sharing stories, laughing until your cheeks hurt, passing around beautiful food and local wine while the sun disappears behind the hills.

Expect long lunches, delicious regional dishes, fresh local ingredients, beautiful French wines, and those slow French evenings you never want to end.

Art nourishes the soul, but so does food, conversation, and connection.

3. Inspiration Everywhere You Look

During our creative retreat in France, we’ll explore breathtaking villages like Rocamadour, Sarlat-la-Canéda, and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie — places that feel almost frozen in time.

We’ll wander bustling French markets, discover hidden alleyways, sip regional wines, and gather endless inspiration for our sketchbooks and paintings.

Sometimes creativity flows easiest when we step outside our normal routines and allow ourselves to experience something new.

I know this trip will spark ideas in ways we can’t even predict yet.

Why Creative Retreats Can Be Life-Changing

One of the most powerful parts of any art retreat is the people.

There’s something magical about gathering with others who all answered the same quiet inner “yes.” People who are craving creativity, adventure, inspiration, or simply a pause from everyday life.

Over ten beautiful days, strangers become friends.

You share meals, stories, paint-covered tables, moments of vulnerability, breakthroughs, and laughter. You encourage each other. You inspire each other.

And somehow, by the end, you leave feeling a little more connected. Not only to others, but to yourself.

Travel changes you. Creativity changes you. Doing something slightly outside your comfort zone changes you too. I truly believe experiences like this stretch us in beautiful ways. You return home with more than paintings and sketchbooks. You return home braver. More inspired. More open. More connected to your own creative voice.

And maybe with a slightly larger suitcase because you bought too many art supplies and French market treasures.
