Hi, I’m Georgie Forbes — a colour-loving Brisbane artist, surface pattern designer, creative mentor, and the founder of Lordy Dordie. I’ve been painting, designing, and creating for over 20 years, and I still feel just as passionate about it today as when I first picked up a crayon as a kid. Being an artist has never been a choice for me — it’s simply who I am.
Based in sunny Brisbane, Australia, I create vibrant, joyful artworks and surface designs that celebrate bold colour, expressive pattern, and the beauty of the natural world. I work mainly with acrylic paint and ink, and I’m endlessly inspired by Australian native flowers, landscapes, and everyday moments that deserve to be seen through a more playful, uplifting lens.
My artistic style is all about colour, energy, and a love for detail — whether I’m painting a still life, designing a textile print, or creating a surface pattern for fashion, homewares, or stationery. I truly believe that colour has the power to shift your mood, brighten your day, and bring joy to your space or outfit. That belief guides everything I create.
Over the years, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with some amazing Australian and international brands across fashion, interiors, kids’ products, paper goods, and more. From art licensing and textile design to custom artwork and product collaborations, I love finding new ways to bring my hand-painted designs to life on beautiful, practical pieces.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me balancing life as a mum of three, running my creative business, and working with other artists and designers through my 1:1 art mentoring and coaching sessions. My days are full, creative, and often a little chaotic — but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you’ve just discovered Lordy Dordie through my recent collaboration with Maiocchi — welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Dive into my colourful world of art, design, and creative living — and don’t be shy, I love connecting with fellow colour-lovers, creatives, and curious souls.
